A tailgate party at the trail head of "Rock Town",a wonderful place to walk around and see rock formations that are millions of years old.
This event is a meet and greet, the purpose of the event is to hang around in the parking lot at the trail head for a tail gate snack lunch, and enjoy a big pile of geo-chat. and meet some new wanna goers.

After eating our snack lunch, we have a trail head (door) prize giveaway of a few wanna go coins. these are non trackable, so you can just add them to your collection. Other door prizes are welcome for the same drawing.

After the meet and greet we will have the opportunity for those the wanna go to hike the trail to Rock Town.
ABOUT ROCK TOWN & TRAIL
The trip is One Mile, a two mile in and out hike.
Initially the trail is nondescript, but within half a mile the first of a series of large boulders can be seen. There is dense vegetation along the entire trail including numerous berries. Among the berry bushes we could identify were blackberry, wild raspberry and huckleberry.
In downtown Rock Town you can visit the Champagne Glass, where water has eroded the base of a 50-foot tall rock, leaving the cap precariously balanced on what little remains. Be sure to take pictures.The trail to Rocktown has little change in elevation. This wide footpath is great for groups.
This trail follows the ridge line to the tallest spot on Pigeon Mountain. Toward the end of the trail is a "rocktown," rocks of unusual shapes and sizes. Rock Town is a User Fee Area.

July 8, 2017 I called and ask about the Georgia Outdoor Recreational Pass, for hiking, and was told they quilt the GORP program, you no longer need that to hike. note: That was me on ONE phone call to ONE person at the number listed, Maybe others will check on it.

- Sportman, Lifetime, or Honorary License
- WMA License

14 day limit.
Pass the road that takes you to the parking area of rock town, head .2 of a mile and take the first right, the camp ground will be on the left.
We know very little about the camp ground, my guess it is tent only.
WANNA GO and ROCKTOWN HISTORY
The Wanna Go Crew first came to rock town on July 14 2004. It was our second event. This will be our 44th event.
