Geocache Description:

Celebrating Canada's 150th birthday, year by year, cache by cache.

May 1988 - HMCS HALIFAX, the first Halifax-class frigate is launched in St John, New Brunswick (see also GC6B0MQ)

More importantly, we have a twist of fate. Your CO takes off from Victoria BC in his decked out 1981 Grand Prix. 2 weeks of leave. He drives to Calgary...bored, he ducks down into Montana and drives east. T-roof off, John Cougar Mellancamp playing, he sees the Mississippi River, follows it south partway, crosses it and travels north then cuts up into Ontario. Visits parents for a day then heads back to the west coast to the HMCS SASKATCHEWAN...where upon arrival he meets a girl from Ontario who is out visiting a friend who is married to a Navy guy. Alas, her two weeks come to an end and she returns to Ontario....but wait...a short time later she has packed up and is heading back to the coast as 'Sweet Child of Mine' by GnR cranks out of the speakers. She swears we were dating....I thought we were just hanging out (thus I wasnt nervous). Ooooooo....what will 1989 hold in store for these two???
