Geocache Description:

Today I wanted to take a cruise in the neighborhood where I grew up. I will do this from time to time and post the Cache in a CHILDHOOD MEMORY Series and this is the First. Some areas are jewels while others are unfortunately forgotten areas that once was vibrant with life and vitality. In either case I will attempt to capture some interesting places for you all to venture if you so choose.

The first thought that came to mind was to head toward the famous Michigan Avenue/Trumbull Street location. Former home of the Detroit Tigers Stadium. Spring/Summer childhood memories growing up off Michigan, less than 10 miles from the Stadium was exciting!! The best memories are those shared with my dad when we attended Tiger baseball games together! I remember sitting on the hood of his car when the Tigers won the 1968 World Series; listening to car horns blowing and the echos of screaming fans as they drove down Michigan.

The Stadium no longer stands. Construction has begun for the new home of the Police Athletic League (PAL) sports park and arena. I am certain it will be spectacular and bring life back to the intersection of Michigan and Trumbull.

The Cache is hidden at an intersection so you will not have to venture to far from your vehicle. Do not be afraid of Detroit! Bring your own pen and a friend. Enjoy!
