Geocache Description:

The Field river area is a surprisingly little known part of Adelaide. Asides from the local residents and trail biking enthusiast very few people would be able to pinpoint it on a map.

Nevertheless the area has an abundance of flora and fauna, has amazing natural features and has a rich and sometimes checkered history.

Did you know that Dinosaurs once roamed this land and that fossil remains of the world's largest marsupial, the Diprotodon, were discovered on the bank of the river?
Did you know that the area was once used for smuggling contraband on shore?
Did you know that the area has a rich mining and quarrying history? Copper was mined here in the mid 19th century and in the 20th century the quarries were used for road building and housing. Some of the quarries have dense bluestone deposits.

During your Field day you will probably encounter evidence of all of this.

This multi is not for the faint hearted. Whilst I resisted the temptation to make some of the hides approaching 5 star terrain, this multi will test your stamina, climbing/scrambling abilities, navigational skills and your powers of observation.
All this before you are presented with one final test in one of the state’s unique locations.

There are 7 stages in this multi and expect to need 2-3h to complete it.

Just a couple of extra notes:
* Bring a camera to record clues
* Every hide has a SPOR
* The conditions vary greatly with the weather. After recent rain some of the terrain will be a lot harder.
* I made every effort to get accurate waypoints but in some areas I found coverage a bit flakey. Every Waypoint therefore has a hint.
* For WP6 I have added a spoiler photo
IMPORTANT: this WP is at the very top under the biggest tree. Approach via the spur from the north. Do not climb up!
* Bee-lieve it or not, WP7 has a large beehive nearby.

Good luck!!
