Clear plastic 1 gallon jar just a few steps off the trail. Thick tree canopy in summer months. Poison ivy abounds at the trails edge and skeeters can be a problem as this is on the Mississippi River.
This island was created at the turn of the last century to provide power to the growing Moline industral complex. Public parking is available at Moline's 1st Street and 1st Avenue. Follow the RiverWay signs to the foot bridge. The island was once home to a rock quarry, steel and iron mill, ice house and Victory gardens during World War II. This small island is criss-crossed with bicycle and foot trails. Bring your fishing pole if you care to, or ride the Moline and Rock Island bike paths that mirror the river front. There are several points of interest in the area. Please let us know what brand and model of GPS used when you log this cache. Original cache placed with a Garmin eTrex Venture WAAS. Thanks.
