ENGLISH:
The Store Rybjerg stone is a runestone from the viking period (ca. 800-1050 AD).
It was found in 1874 by a stonemason who had split it into several parts before he discovered runic inscription. The stone sits on a small grave mound and has the following inscription: "Bryden Tue rejste denne sten over Thorgunn sin lege. Disse stave vil leve længe", which is ancient Danish. In current Danish that means that Tue erected this stone in the memory of his wife. The inscription is therefore referred to as Denmarkʼs first love poem.
It is one of the few rune stones that stands in its original place
