The cache is located at the Croplands Habitat area in Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. Here you will discover a walkway to an overlook which gives you a great view of the surrounding area. During the Great Flood of 1993 the waters reached 10-15 feet deep across the conservation area floodplain. Imagine that much water as you stand high on the overlook surveying the fields below.
The Croplands is just one habitat to be found at Columbia Bottom. Each habitat can be found by following the road signs and looking for the Exploration Stations. The Exploration Stations are interpretive signs about the different habitats and why they are important. They are easily seen from the road as large yellow "waves". Be sure to notice the beautiful mosaic artwork depicting the habitat. Can you see any hidden images?
Columbia Bottom Conservation Area is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Visit the Missouri Department of Conservation website for more information and a map, Columbia Bottom Conservation Area
