The cache is located at the Wetlands Habitat area in Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. Here you will discover a boardwalk to a viewing blind. This wall provides a bird watcher with cover so skittish waterfowl and other birds will not be spooked and fly away. Depending upon the season there may be a wetland pool under your feet as you transverse the boardwalk giving a unique perspective of a wetland.
The Wetlands is just one habitat to be found at Columbia Bottom. Each habitat can be found by following the road signs and looking for the Exploration Stations. The Exploration Stations are interpretive signs about the different habitats and why they are important. They are easily seen from the road as large yellow "waves". Be sure to notice the beautiful mosaic artwork depicting the habitat. Can you see any hidden images?
Columbia Bottom Conservation Area is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Howard and Joyce Wood Education and Visitor Center is open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Visit the Missouri Department of Conservation website for more information and a map, Columbia Bottom Conservation Area
