Geocache Description:

A small cache, not too far from the road. The cache is NOT hidden in the hole at the base of the tree. Don't bother reaching down into it! Bring your own writing utensil. This set of caches will bring you to places of significant historic locations of the United Empire Loyalists who settled the area in the late 1700's. The caches are named after Col. Edward Jessup, who was a United Empire Loyalist who founded the town of Prescott in 1810.

United Empire Loyalists were residents of the American Colonies who were loyal to the Crown during the American Revolution. At war’s end, Loyalists were forced to leave the newly formed USA. Many settled in Canada, including Leeds & Grenville. The land this cache is near was the property of Loyalist Captain Edward Howard. Parslow Rd, were this cache is located is along the route of the 'settlers trek' which is the route many Scottish soldiers and some Loyalists took on their trek from Brockville to Perth in the spring of 1816 to found the military settlement of Perth.
