Del primitivo monasterio de los Padres Carmelitas, construido en 1697 y destruido por un terremoto que asoló la zona en 1783, quedan sólo las ruinas pero la excursión merece sin duda la pena, tanto por el interés histórico-artístico del monumento como por la vista panorámica de que podemos disfrutar.
Ante la imposibilidad de restaurar el edificio, se construyó uno nuevo, cuyas obras finalizaron en 1796, en una zona más segura. Junto al Monasterio, hay una Iglesia que data de la misma época que el Monasterio y un Museo.
From the primitive monastery of the Carmelite Fathers, built in 1697 and destroyed by an earthquake that devastated the area in 1783, there are only the ruins but the excursion is certainly worth it, both for the historical and artistic interest of the monument and for the panoramic view that we can enjoy.
Faced with the impossibility of restoring the building, a new one was built, whose works were completed in 1796, in a safer area. Next to the Monastery, there is a Church dating from the same time as the Monastery and a Museum.
