Some caches are micros, a few can hold a trackable, some are easy finds, and others prove to be quite difficult. All we ask from the Leadership Wayne class is that you enjoy the finds and learn something new about our wonderful county. Upon completion of the entire trail you will be able to collect your GeoCoin at the Wayne County museum after you have recorded your code words on the passport from each of the 50 locations.
Completed in 2000, the Alumni Cross Walk was constructed using red bricks from the original school building on Breazeale Avenue, which was purchased by the University of Mount Olive in 1953. The brick walkway is built in the shape of a Celtic cross, symbolizing the college's Christian heritage - the foundation of the University of Mount Olive. The Nido and Mariana Qubein Garden House is superimposed on the center of the brick walkway, sheltering a pedestal containing the cornerstone and bell from the original campus and surrounded by four beautifully landscaped gardens. The Alumni Cross Walk is a reminder of our founders' vision - a manifestation of pride in the accomplishments of the University's alumni and a symbol of our hopes, dreams and prayers for the future.
