This cache was a part of the Historic Benton County Coin Challenge. The coins have been distributed, but the chance to learn about our history is still available
Originally located at 9th and Washington Street, the 1910 California Mission style passenger station was hauled for 3 weeks by mules to 6th Street between Madison and Monroe in 1917. The Electric Interurban service ended in 1929. By 1933 all passenger service ended to Corvallis. The building became the Corvallis Police headquarters in 1956. By 1982, the depot was in disrepair and threatened with demolition. Private investors then purchased the depot and moved it north of the Harrison Street Bridge fronting the Willamette River. Today, it serves the community as a restaurant.
