Geocache Description:

“The Gnome’s Dwarven Treasure”

The Wirral Gnomes had been working in the countryside cutting back hedgerows, pruning trees, doing some planting and had settled now down together for their lunch. They had their usual mixed greens and leaves that they had foraged from the hedgerows, topped with a few assorted nuts. For dessert they had wild berries and fruits and it was all washed down with elderflower juice and fresh dewdrops collected that morning.

Whilst the elders sat and rested before returning to their work, the youngsters started to play their games. Suddenly Nick shouted “I’ve found Treasure… It’s real Treasure…. It’s made of Gold!”

He came rushing over to Baldmoney, and showed him a golden coin that he had just found.

Baldmoney took the coin, rubbed it clean and started to look at it. “It certainly looks like gold, and from the image on it, it is old.” It’s not one of ours, I’d recognise our past rulers, but I’ve seen similar, many years ago with the Dwarves in Lord of the Rings”.

“Where did you find it?” he asked.

“Over there, at the base of that wooden post, the end one with the old wire at its base”.

All the youngsters gathered around. “What’s it say?” asked Nick excitedly.

“That’s difficult, as it’s not in my native tongue”. He got a pencil and an old notepad from his sack and set about working it out. After a while he said “I can see a pattern here”, odd words like ‘point’, but it’s beyond me. I think you’ll need to get help from elsewhere”.

Nick wrapped it up in his handkerchief and tucked it into his pocket. Let’s get back to work he said, we may even find more treasure!
