This cache is located along the Table Rocks trail (1.9 miles one-way), at the Spring Farm Trailhead in the Mohonk Preserve, on Upper 27 Knolls Road. There is a manned booth at the entrance to the parking lot to collect day pass fees, so you will need to be a preserve member or pay for a day pass. But this area and this trail is well worth a day pass.
Follow the blue blazed Table Rocks trail. Near the end of the Table Rocks trail, it takes a left turn into a field of giant boulders, and onto the slab itself. When you arrive at Table Rocks, you will be standing on a large bed of tilted Shawangunk Conglomerate rocks, with deep crevices, and a gorgeous view towards the Catskill Mountains. According to the book, "Shawangunks Trail Companion" (by Jeffrey Perls), Table Rocks were formed from a huge ancient rock slide following the retreat of the glaciers. This slab or rock became unstable, broke into large blocks and slid downhill - very gradually over hundreds of years.

Please be careful of the many deep crevices, and be careful not to drop anything that could roll down and into the cracks, which could be over a 100 feet deep! The trail traverses the top of the slab and heads left back into the woods, making a very small loop that returns to the main Table Rocks trail and back to the parking lot. After you leave the rock slab, you should consider looking for a cache. This is a very popular hiking destination, please be sure the re-hide the cache very well.

The Mohonk Preserve is a private land conservation organization established to protect the Shawangunk Ridge, it is not public land funded by the government. Therefore, there is a day use fee to use the preserve which funds its maintenance and programs. For the current day pass fees, check the Mohonk Preserve website.
