Geocache Description:

Kara-te is a martial arts system that was developed in Okinawa and then brought into mainland Japan.  In the 1960s and 1970s, Karate as it became known, became popular from martial arts movies.  These karate movies have become so ingrained into western society that the word karate is often used in a generic way to refer to all Oriental martial arts.

It was the Japanese who introduced the belt grading system to karate.  Up until this time, a practitioner of karate was either a Sensei (Master) or a Karateka (student).

Each Karate Organisation can have a slightly different grading system with their own belt levels.  However, most use the same colour system. As such you may find a few different sources on the internet.
However a novice always starts as a white belt (10th kyu) and works towards brown belt with 2 stripes (1st kyu) followed by Shodan (Ho) Black Belt

To find the cache, solve the puzzle below to discover the suggested car park. The cache is located 14 meters 225 degrees in the obvious geocache hide.

The most common minimum time frame to become a karate black belt is 5+ years and a common saying is that only 1 in 1000 who start karate will become a black belt.
Hopefully it won't take you 5+ years to become a Geocaching Kara-te Black Belt.

Good luck and please post your experience, rather than a "TFTC"
