Some caches are micros, a few can hold a trackable, some are easy finds, and others prove to be quite difficult. All we ask from the Leadership Wayne class is that you enjoy the finds and learn something new about our wonderful county. Upon completion of the entire trail you will be able to collect your GeoCoin at the Wayne County museum after you have recorded your code words on the passport from each of the 50 locations.
Barnes School opened in 1930s and due to segregation only taught African American students. The Barnes School was a consolidation of White Oak and Barnes Schools in 1952. The school was named for the Hardy Barnes family who donated the land for the original Barnes School. When the present brick building was constructed the frame structure was sold to Robert Cox who remodeled it into a lovely home which still stands not far from the school. Later as desegregation became the law of the land it became Rosewood Elementary until the new school was built. It was a business center for local entrepreneurs and now it serve a community of faith as their church.
