This is the scond of five caches placed on the slopes of Kindrogan Hill. The walk is along forest roads and footpaths (and within 10 to 15 metres of the track or path) but the footpaths are narrow and muddy in places so not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. The caches all have quite specific hints so should be easy to find but the terrain underfoot can be quite tricky in places and boots are recommended. The caches are all placed on Forestry Commission ground and you should follow any signs and instructions they display. There are more than 1,700 species of lichen in Britain. Lichens occur from sea level to high alpine elevations, in many environmental conditions, and can grow on almost any surface. Some species are considered to be among the oldest living things. The boulder here is a convenient spot to sit for a moment and have a wee rest before continuing up the hill.
