This cache was placed next to a place where a new cinema, homes and restaurants are due to be built.
The scheme will include an eight-screen, 1,000-seat Picturehouse cinema, 161 homes, including some affordable homes and 75,000square feet of space for shops and restaurants. It will also enable the creation of a public square and a more open, visitor-friendly town centre by linking New Broadway, Bond Street, Ealing Green and Walpole Park.
It will be achieved by redeveloping a site in the heart of the town centre, which was secured by a compulsory purchase order. It encompasses the former Empire Cinema which closed in 2008, a neighbouring office building, bar and other properties on the boundary of the site. The Art Deco façade of the old cinema will be preserved as part of the new development.
