[ITA]: Is Grifoneddus, antica fontana pubblica della città di Iglesias veniva utilizzata come punto di rifornimento d’acqua dagli abitanti del centro storico della città negli anni ’50-’60. A causa della lunga attesa per l’approvvigionamento dell’acqua, divenne un punto di ritrovo per i residenti e acquisì un forte valore sociale. Nella seconda metà degli anni ’60, con la realizzazione dell’impianto per la fornitura d’acqua alle case private, perse notevolmente importanza.
Attualmente si trova in uno stato di semi abbandono. Recentemente, durante la manifestazione “Musei Aperti”, è stata avviata una raccolta fondi per la ristrutturazione del sito.
[ING]: The so-called “Is Grifoneddus” is an old public fountain of the town of Iglesias. In the ‘50s and ‘60s it was used as water supply spot by historic centre’s residents. Due to long waiting times connected with water provision it became a community gathering place of great social importance. In the second half of ‘60s it was realized the implant to provide water to private houses and, consequently, Is Grifoneddus lose most of its importance.
Nowadays, the fountain is nearly abandoned. Recently, during the event named “Monumenti Aperti”, a fundraiser to restore it has been launched.
