ABOUT THE TRACK
A well maintained & easy to follow track climbs over an old slip, through beech forest & up to the tussock covered open tops to Rangiwahia Hut (Rangi hut). It could take anywhere between 1-3hrs to reach the hut depending on your fitness, but 1.5hrs is probably a fair estimate. You can also continue on to complete the Rangiwahia-Deadmans loop which is estimated at about 7-9hrs to complete.
Alternatively you could make it a 2 day tramp & stay over night at the hut.
The cache has been placed at the picturesque little bridge which crosses the Mangahuia Stream, & gives a perfect excuse to stop and enjoy this beautiful little spot (not that you need another excuse). However, it is a place where muggles like to stop for photo's too, so extreme stealth & patience may be needed until the coast is clear. You will need to be aware that the bridge can be seen from a couple of vantage points either side of the track too leading up to the bridge. Because of this a detailed clue has been provided to enable a more discreet search.
There is a very steep drop off at GZ, so be very careful while searching, & best not to let the geo-kids look for this one.
The container is tucked under as close as possible to the end, so you don't need to go down far at all!
