This is one of the places in wild and wonderful Upshur County. One of the places most would not visit and out of the way of the main drag. There is a river access here to launch and take out boats. The cache is labeled official geocache and has the geocaching print off and a small log but no room for a pen ...so bring your own pen. This is very flat and should be accessible to anyone. Definitely child friendly!
This boat launch is a popular place in the summer for canoes and kayaks. They put in here and float to the college boat dock. There is a nice grass area perfect for picnics. This cache is hidden in a row of rocks inbetween two rocks..Now a little about Hampton...Hampton is an old old community within Upshur County. There once was a wood flooring mill here and the company houses here all had running water. Something unheard of at the time. One of the first European settlers in Upshur county Samuel Pringle is buried in the cemetery on the hill here. Also I was told that there is one revolutionary war grave in the same cemetery. I want to thank Mr. Hamner for the little history lesson about Hampton. He was very nice and keeps an eye on the area. I hope you have enjoyed the little history lesson about Wonderful Upshur County.Happy Caching!
