Geocache Description:

SUNRISE TRACK - IT'S WELL WORTH THE CLIMB, FOR THE LOVELY VIEW AND PICNIC AREA WAITING FOR YOU AT THE TOP.

Ten minutes drive out of Tauranga City is McLaren Falls Park, 190 hectares of pastoral and horticultural parkland set alongside Lake McLaren. The park is popular for camping, fishing, kayaking, wedding photos, picnics, bush walks and summertime concerts. It is also home to one of the best botanical collections of trees in the North Island.

Opening hours:
Winter: 7.30am – 5.30pm - when daylight saving ends
Summer: 7.30am – 7.30pm - when daylight saving starts

Slow vehicle access is available throughout the park for easy access to picnic areas. Gates open for outgoing vehicles after closing time.

To locate the cache, climb the track up the hill, and through the gate at the top. The cache is on the right, before you reach the picnic table (pictured). You are looking for a 1 litre Sistema, with plenty of room for trades and trackables.

Note... if the idea of climbing the 'zigzag' track is off-putting, another option is to walk down from the top. Park near the hostel in the Equestrian Area, head for S37 49.167 E176 02.482 and follow the new fenceline all the way down to the cache.
