The Cache
This screw-top plastic Geocache is situated at the beginning (or end) of the Haywards Interchange walk/cycleway on Hebden Crescent.
The Cycleway/Walkway
This path allows access between Belmont Regional Park's Dry Creek Entrance and Manor Park Station (via the overbridge), and consequently, the walkways on the eastern side of SH2.
The initial interchange design did not allow for cycle or pedestrian by-pass, but Hutt Cycle advocacy group thought the traffic/cycle conflict would be a major deterrent to cycling.
The group made contact with local MPs in an attempt to persuade the New Zealand Transport Agency to modify the design. Eventually the agency assembled a team of people, including cyclists, who came up with this really good layout.
Parking
Parking access to the cache is via the Dry Creek Entrance carpark or the Manor Park Station carpark on the western side of the overbridge.
