Geocache Description:

Come join SOGeo founders Socks and Amanda Smith as we put on our first foray into Geocaching 101!


Are you new to Geocaching?  Have you been caching for a little while but want to pick up some additional tips?  Come join Southern Oregon Geocaching for beginning Geocaching 101.  This class is meant to be an introduction to the fun, high-thrill hobby of Geocaching to the community.  We'll spend some time indoors exploring the basics and then get outside to test your newly acquired skills.  Team up with experienced cachers who will share their knowledge and stories from the field and help guide you on your way.


 

Class will cover the following:

  • Brief history of geocaching

  • Explanation of cache types and useful terms

  • Introduction to GPS and satellite technology

  • The cache page at Geocaching.com

  • Setting up your geocahing account and logging your caches

  • A hands on demonstration with "Frankencache"

    • Our fun, interactive teaching tool that provides examples of what you could discover


 

This class is being offered through the Central Point Parks and Recreation and is located on page 21 of the summer RECreate guide, so please share the information with anyone you think would be interested in learning more about Geocaching.  


The class will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Computer Classroom at 155 S. 2nd Street (2nd Floor), in Central Point.  You'll need to enter through the Police Department.  


 

We are very excited to be having the opportunity to put on this class and really look forward to seeing new faces as well as those of you experienced cachers too!  Please share this with anyone you know who may be interested in learning more.  Let's work to grow our base and teach more people about Geocaching!!
