Los Saltos del Monday están ubicados en el Parque Municipal Monday que ocupa una superficie de 9 hectáreas. El parque pertenece al Bosque Atlántico del Alto Paraná que está compuesto por una selva de clima semitropical húmedo y tropical húmedo, con una elevada diversidad de especies. Entre los animales destacan el pájaro campana, la harpía, el loro vináceo, el yaguar, el puma, el ocelote, el tapir, el coatí, el zorro vinagre, la anaconda verde o el yacaré overo. En cuanto a flora pueden ver la inmensa variedad de árboles, orquídeas y otros tipos de plantas. Entre las especies botánicas hay que mencionar el helecho arborescente, la yerba maté, el lapacho rosado, el yvyra pytã y el palmito.
Los restos más impactantes de la historia geológica del área lo conforman los paredones basálticos por donde se desprenden los Saltos del Monday. Estos son recuerdo de un vasto derrame magmático ocurrido hace 150 millones de años que llegó a cubrir cerca de un millón y medio de kilómetros cuadrados. Este manto eruptivo, que en sectores tiene 600 metros de espesor, se encuentra apoyado sobre estratos irregulares de areniscas y sedimentos meteorizados a partir del Basamento Cristalino Brasileño. El relieve del terreno se modificó en el Cuaternario, cuando en sus periodos finales se eliminaron por erosión, y en forma parcial, las areniscas y materiales menos resistentes dejando al descubierto una serie de escarpas y bancos duros. Los ríos se encajonaron y rectificaron sus cursos y los saltos retrocedieron aguas arriba de su antiguo emplazamiento. Además, esto resultó en una topografía ondulada con diferencias de 20 a 30 metros. Un elevado porcentaje de los suelos son muy evolucionados y profundos y provienen de la disgregación de las rocas eruptivas. Se caracterizan por su colorido rojo inmenso y por ser permeables y medianamente fértiles. Los suelos hidromórficos que se hallan rodeando los arroyos internos varían en su grado de evolución y derivan de depósitos aluvionales antiguos a recientes. Se caracterizan por su colorido grisáceo y por ser relativamente profundos, arcillosos y de baja fertilidad. (Johnson, 2001)
Los saltos, de más de 40 metros de altura y 120 metros de anchura, se encuentran en el Río Monday y son formados por tres caídas principales y otras menores complementarias. En la época precolombiana fueron la estación importante del camino de los guaraníes. A diferencia de las Cataratas Iguazú, acá pueden aprovechar la maravilla natural sin las masas de turistas. En 2014 en los saltos filmaron una película de Héctor Rodríguez que se llama "Gritos del Monday". Para llegar a los Saltos del Monday pueden utilizar el coche o el transporte público del centro de Ciudad del Este.

The Monday Waterfalls are situated in the Municipal Park Monday which occupies an area of 9 hectares (4 acres). The park belongs to Alto Paraná Atlantic forest, which is formed by forests of subtropical and tropical humid climate, and it is characteristic of species diversity. In the forests live for example: the bare throated bellbird, harpy, vinaceous-breasted amazon, jaguar, cougar, ocelot, tapir, coati, bush dog, green anaconda and broad-snouted caiman. Regarding flora you can see an immense variety of trees, orchids and another species of plants such as the cyathea, yerba mate, Handroanthus heptaphyllus, Peltophorum dubium and jucara.
The most striking remains of the geological history of the area are formed by the basaltic walls where the Monday Waterfalls detach. These are remains of a vast magmatic spill occurred 150 million years ago that covered about a million and a half square kilometers. This eruptive mantle, which in sectors is 600 meters thick, is supported by irregular layer of sandstones and sediments weathered from the Brazilian Crystal Basin. The relief of the terrain was modified in the Quaternary when, in its final periods, sandstones and less resistant materials were removed by erosion, and in a partial form, exposing a series of escarpments and tough banks. The rivers squeezed and rectified their watercourses and the waterfalls receded upstream of their former place. In addition, it was caused in the undulating landscape with differences of 20 to 30 meters. A high percentage of the soils are evolved, thick and they have origin in the disintegration of the igneous rocks. It is characterized by its intense red color, permeability and medium fertility. The hydromorphic soils that surround the internal streams vary in their degree of evolution and they derive from ancient to recent alluvial deposits. It is characterized by its greyish colour and relatively thick, clay and low fertility. The waterfalls are more than 40 metres tall and 120 metres wide. They are located on the Monday River and they are formed by 3 main and some smaller waterfalls. They were an important stop on the precolombian route for the Guarani people. Unlike the Iguazú Waterfalls you can enjoy the natural wonder without hordes of tourists. In 2014, this area served as the filming location for Hector Rodriguez’s movie “Gritos del Monday” (Screams of Monday). You can get to the waterfalls by car or by public transport from the centre of Ciudad del Este.

Vodopády Monday se nalézají v Městském parku Monday, který zabírá území o rozloze 9 hektarů. Park patří do Atlantického lesa Alto Paraná, který je tvořen pralesem subtropického a tropického vlhkého klimatu, a je typický svou druhovou rozmanitostí. Mezi zástupci fauny vyčnívají zvonkovec nahokrký, harpyje, amazoňan vinorudý, jaguár, puma, ocelot, tapír, nosál červený, pes pralesní, anakonda velká nebo kajman šironosý. Mezi rostlinnými druhy je třeba zmínit cyateu, yerbu maté, tebebuju, peltoforum a euterpe jedlá.
Nejpůsobivější pozůstatky geologické historie této oblasti představují čedičové útesy, v místech, kde se nacházejí vodopády Monday. Připomínají obrovské úniky magmatu, ke kterým došlo před 150 miliony let, a pokryly zhruba jeden a půl milionu kilometrů čtverečných. Tento plášť vyvřelých hornin je tlustý 600 metrů, je doplněn nepravidelnou vrstvou zvětralých pískovců a sedimentů Brazilského krystalického podloží. Reliéf se změnil ve čtvrtohorách, na jejichž konci byly erozí odstraněny pískovce a méně odolné materiály, a tak byly odhaleny srázy a podloží z odolných hornin. Řeky zformovaly tvar toku a vodopády ustoupily dále proti proudu oproti jejich původnímu umístění. Navíc k tomuto došlo ve zvlněném terénu s rozdíly od 20 do 30 metrů. Vysoké procento půdy prošlo dlouhým vývojem, tvoří silné vrstvy a vzniklo rozpadem vyvřelých hornin. Tyto půdy jsou typické sytě červenou barvou, propustností a střední úrodností. Hydromorfní půdy, které obklopují vnitřní toky, se liší ve stupni vývoje a vznikly z dávných i současných naplavenin. Vyznačují se šedou barvou a relativní tloušťkou vrstvy, jílovitostí a nízkou úrodností. (Johnson, 2001)
Vodopády s výškou více než 40 metrů a šířkou 120 metrů leží na řece Monday a tvoří je 3 hlavní a několik menších vodopádů. V předkolumbovské době byly důležitou zastávkou na cestě indiánů guaraní. Na rozdíl od vodopádů Iguazú si můžete vychutnat tento přírodní div bez davů turistů. V roce 2014 byl na vodopádech natočen film Héctora Rodrigueze s názvem "Gritos del Monday" (Výkřiky z Monday). K vodopádům Monday se můžete dostat autem nebo hromadnou dopravou z centra Ciudad del Este.
