Парк Дружбы народов на карте Минска появился, можно сказать, случайно. В 70-е годы Белорусский НИИ мелиорации и водного хозяйства предложил реорганизовать территорию Минской болотной станции.
Рассматривалось два альтернативных варианта: создание межвузовского спортивного комплекса или филиала Центрального ботанического сада Академии наук БССР. "Победил" второй вариант, но возникла проблема с финансированием работ. И после долгих дебатов было принято "соломоново решение" - создать вместо филиала ботанического сада парк по типу ботанического сада, что мы и имеем сегодня - парк Дружбы народов.

Park of Friendship of Peoples on the map of Minsk appeared, it can be said, by chance. In the 1970s, the Belarusian Research Institute of Land Reclamation and Water Resources proposed to reorganize the territory of the Minsk Marsh Station.
Two alternatives were considered: the establishment of an interuniversity sports complex or a branch of the Central Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR. "The second option was won, but a problem arose with the financing of the work. And after a long debate, a "Solomon decision" was taken - to create instead of a botanical garden branch a park by the type of a botanical garden that we have today - the Friendship of Peoples Park.
