Dunwich Heath

Saturday 27 May 2017

10am - 2pm

Come and meet other local cachers, maybe have a brew, and a picnic, and a chat about our geocaching adventures!  Family friendly in a great location, with several caching trails adjacent, as well as a lovely beach to walk on!

Geocaching is all about getting outside in the great outdoors for fun and fresh air. Hopefully Summer will have be in full swing, and the Suffolk weather and coast will be at its best. However, the event will still go on even if the weather is inclement, so bring your flask, a woolly blanket, your waterproofs and your sense of adventure, although the National Trust are kindly providing us with a gazebo.

The meeting point for the event is at Dunwich Heath.  Come and meet other local cachers for a chat about our geocaching adventures. Dunwich Heath has its own series of caches, set by the National Trust, and equipment to borrow will be available. Hopefully we will be able to interest visitors in our hobby and I've volunteered us to be available through the day to talk to people if they wish.

The location is wheelchair and pushchair accessible, although the nearby series may be challenging in places for wheels.

Dogs are welcome, but under control. The whole site is an SSSI and home to ground nesting birds and other rare species, so please follow any instructions and signage about where to walk especially if you have a dog.

There will be a container for discovering and swapping trackables and if you want to make a day of it, there are plenty of excellent caches nearby.

Refreshments and toilets will be available.

This event is being held by kind permission of the National Trust and my thanks go to Lloyd James for his enthusiasm and assistance.
