Growing up in the 90's, my family would often take Milton road to go to Orleans. Every once in a while we would drive down Canary St to look at the fancy houses on our way home.
Canaries were brought into mines because if there were any dangerous gases, they would kill the canary before the miners would be at risk. Perhaps that is the meaning behind this street; if the country is about to fall on hard times, perhaps residents of this street would feel the pinch first.
