Biserica Ostrov. Din satul Toteşti, dacă continuaţi pe drumul principal până la intersecţia care indică, către stânga, spre Parcul Naţional Retezat, după trei kilometrii veţi ajunge în satul Ostrov, unde pe partea stângă a drumului, este o altă biserică medievală veche din Ţara Haţegului, datând de la sfrârşitul anilor 1200. Bine restaurată, biserica are un gard din...lespezi romane. La început au existat 300 de astfel de lespeizi, dar cele mai multe au sfârşit în muzee. Numai câteva din aceste lespezi, dificil de citit, încă înconjoară biserica. Deasemenea, este gardul cimitirului de la biserica Ostrov. Gardul a fost odată format din aproape 300 de pietre neobişnuite, plasate într-o adevărată expoziţie unică. Gardul a fost format din 208 sculpturi şi epigrafice romane, adunate de nobilul patron al bisericii în timpul perioadei 1553-1585, din diferite locuri de langă sat. Interesantă este şi icoana Fecioarei Maria, aflată la intrarea în turnul bisericii, pictură foarte veche, de secol XIII-XIV.
Ostrov Church. From Toteşti village if you continue your way on the main road till the intersection indicating to the left Parcul Naţional Retezat (Retezat National Park), after three kilometres, you will get to Ostrov village, where on the left site of the road, there is another old medieval church from Haţeg Country, dating from late 1200. Well restored, the church boasts a fence made of … Roman flagstones. At first there were 300 such flagstones, but most of them ended up in museums. Only a few of these flagstones, difficult to read, are now still surrounding the church. Impressive is the fence of the cemetery from Ostrov church, too. The fence was once composed of nearly 300 novels of all kinds of stones, placed in a real unique exhibition. The fence was made of 208 sculptures and Roman epigraphic, collected by the noble patron of the church during the period 1553-1585, in various places near the village.
