[RO] Barajul Orlea. Hidrocentrala Retezat, construcție subterană realizată între anii 1977-1986, este a doua centrală de vârf de pe râurile interioare din România. În urma hidrocentralei principale, în aval pe râul Mare, mai există o salbă de 9 hidrocentrale mai mici.. Toate hidrocentralele sunt echipate cu câte două turbine de tip Kaplan. Ultima verigă finalizată este formată din lacul de acumulare, barajul si hidrocentrala de la Sântămaria-Orlea. Lacul de acumulare de la Orlea asigură alimentareă cu apă a aproape jumatate din judetul Hunedoara, a oraşelor Haţeg, Călan, Simeria şi Deva. De pe digul barjului puteţi admira vârful Retezat, dar şi o altă perspectivă a oraşului Haţeg.

Following the main hydropower plant, downstream of the Great River, there is still a 9 smaller hydropower plant. All hydropower plants are equipped with two Kaplan turbines. The last completed link is formed by the reservoir, the dam and the hydroelectric power plant at Sântămaria-Orlea. The Orlea reservoir provides water supply to almost half of Hunedoara County, the cities of Hateg, Calan, Simeria and Deva. From the dam of the reservoir, you can admire the Retezat peak, but also another perspective of Hateg town.
