River Exit Traditional Cache

Area of the North Platte River where you must Exit when floating the river because of the Whalen diversion dam which diverts water into the Fort Laramie and Interstate Canals. Probably named for Richard Whalen. Richard Whalen was one of the earliest settlers in the area around old Fort Laramie and a rancher near the canyon bearing his name.
