The Amherst Fire District (AFD) was formed in 1992 by the consolidation of two volunteer departments in the area: The Village of Amherst Volunteer Fire Department and the Nelsonville Fire Department (NFD). The AFD serves the Amherst community including the surrounding rural areas and nearby Villages of Amherst Jct. and Nelsonville.
Permission has been granted for placement of this cache on the fire department property.
This cache is a tribute to the members of the Amherst Fire District: Fire/Rescue, First Responders and Ambulance.
