Blackall has become very well known for arts and culture...whether it be art and craft workshops, retreats or the many sculptures that pepper the town, but are predominantly near the river. They're generally made from recycled materials from property rubbish dumps, a fantastic source of old wheels, tools, lengths of steel etc.
This striking sculpture, created by Richard Moffat as part of the Artist in Residence program in 2007 Blackall Heartland Festival, using the theme 'Ice on Water'. It was created from the abundance of old fencing wire found in paddocks that once held sheep.
This can be a very busy area in tourist season, so stealth is essential!
