National Trail's Day is June 3rd, and REI and Trail Pittsburgh are going to be meeting up at Settler's Cabin park to work on the Teepee Trail. This is the most popular of the trail throughout the park. Work will be done on a 1 mile section from the Tomahawk shelter connection to the Power Lines which is approximately 1 mile long. The goal for the day is to maintain and re-establish the trail surface and improve drainage along this section of the trail. Additional work will be done along this corridor, which need additional water management improvements. All teams will be assigned work zones and crew leaders to guide them throughout the day.
We reached out to Trail Pittsburgh to see if they could use some help this day, and they graciously said yes. They know that we have a bunch of geocaches scattered around the park. So, if you are free on June 3rd between 9 AM and 1 PM, please come out to the park and lend a helping hand. We will be gathering at the Old Park office, at the above coordinates. You dont need to worry about bringing any tools as all tools will be provided on site. No need to pack a lunch either, as pizza will be provided by REI at the end of the day.
