This Cache is part of the Mothman GeoTrail 2017


Pioneer Surgeon. The first successful cesarean section in North America near Edom in 1794. 

Dr. Jesse Bennett in 1794 performed the first Caesarean section operation in the United States (on Elizabeth, his wife, saving both her life and the life of their daughter). He was Surgeon of the Second Virginia Regiment during the War of 1812 was a member of the jury at Aaron Burr's trial for treason. He lived in Mason County.
