Thanks to our ten fingers, the Hindu and Arabic mathematicians and Fibonacci, we now use a base 10 decimal numerical system containing the elements 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. But some fields of science use different notations, for example the base 8 octal numerical system containing the elements 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 and 7. Other numerical systems use other bases.
