Geocache Description:

Park and grab.

A firebreak is a gap in vegetation that acts as a barrier to slow or stop the progress of a wildfire. A firebreak may occur naturally where there is a lack of vegetation or "fuel", such as a river, lake or canyon. Firebreaks may also be man-made, like this one on the foothills of the Hottentots Holland Mountain range overlooking Gordon's Bay.

Fires in the Western Cape caused damage of more than R11 million in 1995, when more than 11,800 ha were burned. 56 people were injured and there were 4 deaths. The cause of the fire was later determined to be arson.
