Armed, Dangerous & off my Meds

The Cache is placed ontop of a hill overlooking Giba Gorge, there is a fire tower ( Shongweni fire tower ) not too far from GZ, some believe this was used by the Germans during the 2nd world war as a signal/lookout tower. if anyone has more information, they are welcome to post it in their log.

At GZ, you will find some Climbing hangers ( bolts ), you will need to use these to setup an abseil of 35m. The industry norm is to use a minimum of 2 ancours, I suggest 3. Make sure to balance or equalise your ropes / slings. There are arrows drawn on the ground to help guide where your rope should hang over the cliff.

The cache is about 15m down the cliff, so you will need to use a prusik loop, you can tie a Friction knot below the descending device. This will help control your speed and act as a backup to your abseil, this will also come in handy once you have spotted the cache, you can let go and use both hands to either hold on or write your name.

You should place a friction knot (probably a Klemheist or autoblock), below the descending device on the slack, brake end of the rope and attached to a leg loop of your harness. Your brake hand goes just above the knot sliding it down as you descend. In the event that you release your brake hand, the knot slides up, cinches tight, and does the job of your brake hand for you.

PS: You wont be able to reach the cache and so you will have to rock back and fourth untill you can hold on and find your footing.

PPS: This cache is not for everyone. It is for the select few that would like to take that step out of their comfort zone and attempt something exhilirating and scary at the same time.
