Geocache Description:

A little birdie came and told me about his home in the park. So I put a cache in it. Sorry little birdie.

This little cache could have been the home of a little bird, if it was a very little bird. The phrase "a little bird told me" has a disputed origin. Some say it is based on Ecclesiastes 10:20 "Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird in the sky may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say."

Others give credit to John Heywood, a 16th century english writer. A playwright, musician, poet and composer, perhaps his most lasting influence on the english language is his collection of a great number of expressions and proverbs we still use today.

These epigrams are all said to be popularised by the works of John Heywood, and I am sure you will recognise many:

Haste makes waste
Out of sight, out of mind
Look before you leap
Better late than never
Never look a gift horse in the mouth
The more the merrier
And of course our favourite: love me, love my dog!

This geocache brings you to a place where perhaps you will not be able to see the wood for the trees but if it's a nice day I suggest you make hay while the sun shines. If it's your only unfound cache in the area, well beggars can't be choosers, sorry. Not a quick find? Don't worry, Rome wasn't built in a day - persevere and you will eventually hit the nail on the head. After all, it's an ill wind that blows no man any good.

Found it? All's well that ends well. Time to write your log? How about a penny for your thoughts?

This is hidden in Gittos Domain, a great place to come and do some inner city walks - and there are some geocaches here too. To access the geocache, there is a path that begins on Lewis St that will bring you down to GZ quickly. GZ is about 12 - 14m off the track but there is a fairly easy way in and out if you go from the right place. There is a very simple trick to open the geocache, definitely no need to force anything. Please put back together as found and as it is a home for a little birdie, there was no room for a little birdie pen - you'll need to bring your own. Will have room for very small tradeables and trackables. Good luck!
