Low Tide or Boat Ride Traditional Cache

Park in the lot at the end of Delgada Road. 

This is an area of rapid change as the ocean tides interact with the mouth of the stream exiting from the brackish lagoon upstream that also serves as a bird sanctuary.  There used to be a cache here that we never found despite several attempts; but it got archived and it seemed like a shame for this great spot to be cache-less. 

When we arrived to place our cache we quickly realized that you could no longer access GZ by walking across the lagoon outfall at low tide will some rubber boots on.  Actually, you could get it if you are willing to get waist deep in arguably dirty water…your call.  Currently the best way to access the cache is to head to the South end of the beach (across the pea gravel dam that is currently backing up the lagoon outfall) and head straight up the steep path to the chain link fence at the top.  This steep portion is what gives this cache the 3.5 Terrain rating.  If you don’t head straight up the hill you could find yourself in some terrain 4.5 or 5 so stick to the plan and head straight up to the fence.  The coordinates of the trailhead are listed.

Once you get to the fence at the top you turn right and follow the fence all the way around to GZ.  It gets narrow along a very steep hillside.  There is currently enough space to walk through single file but it is not a good idea for children. 

We put some flagging about 6 feet off the ground about 6 feet away from GZ.  This cache is a large ammo can and relies heavily on its camouflage so please re-hide it well.
