Geocache Description:

This easy cache is located on private property. However, you have permission to enter the compound anytime. The cache is hidden in a stream under a salmon redd among the fish eggs. But don’t worry about getting your feet wet! Much local effort is directed toward restoring salmon and steelhead populations in northeast Oregon. After you find the cache feel free to read the scientific posters about salmon and steelhead restoration in Wallowa County. The poster frames are attached to the front of the office building. If you would like to learn more you are also welcome to enter the office and ask to speak with one of the fisheries biologists. Or perhaps you may be interested in a Nez Perce legend story about fish in Wallowa County. Just ask the office manager at the front desk for a free copy. In addition to the normal swag, the cache container initially holds a Travel Bug and Geocoin for those geocachers who would like to move them along on their mission. The Travel Bug (Sockeye Salmon) would like to migrate down to the Pacific Ocean and then return to his natal stream in Joseph, Oregon. The Geocoin (Native American Bear Totem) would like to visit all the geocaches found in Chief Joseph's homeland (Wallowa County).
