La Fayette relevé de son commandement de l'armée des Ardennes (stationnée à Sedan) et pour éviter son arrestation, il quitta Sedan le 19 aout 1792 pour gagner un pays neutre: la Hollande via Bouillon et Rochefort

La Fayette ontheven van zijn commando van het leger, destationneerd in Sedan.  Hij verliet Sedan (19 Augustus 1792) voor een neutraal land: Nedezrlands verdienen door Bouillon en Rochefort
