Geocache Description:

48 State Cache Dash Introduction (GC79X8F) This series of caches is intended to be a simulation of my 48 state trip, but on a much smaller scale, more or less making a counter-clockwise circuit of Dane county. If done in one trip, it will take several hours, depending on how long each stop is, and will cover somewhere in the neighborhood of 160 miles. A few notes… -Look for the state stickers on the beacons. -They are all park and grabs. -Most are winter friendly, some are not. -Almost all caches are on road signs, a few guard rails. -Look for magnetic key holders, pill bottles, or homemade pvc containers. -All log times in the trip descriptions are Central Time. -If using a cell phone for searching, there are some areas where the signal may be weak or lost altogether. -If traveled in the intended order, most of the caches will be on the right side of the road, others might need a quick u turn. Cacher’s Log – 5/6/16 – 4:31 Odometer -155,569 State #8 - MT Keep the Faith GC612BG About an hour drive from the ND cache and a short nap, I stopped for my Montana cache. This one was one of the closest to the ND/MT border that was in decent condition and on the way to I-94. It was located near the front entry of a church and it felt REALLY strange searching there in the middle of the night to sign a log. It was hidden with permission so I made my mark and promptly left the area. I had also stopped for two more caches(Plevna #1, GC302BM; After the Roundup, GC1Y7YB). At the second one, I paused and looked up at the vast clear sky and what an amazing sight to see so many stars unpolluted by the city lights. There was even a satellite making its way across the heavens. At the third cache, I dropped another travel bug before making the loooooong journey across this massive state. I ended up stopping for sleep at a rest stop for a few hours and fueling up a couple of times before crossing the border to Idaho… Departure Time - 4:38 am
