This cache is located at another of my favourite spots on the railway - the Muckleford Creek bridge. This and the Winter's Flat trestle (at the start of the trail in Castlemaine) are the two most impressive timber trestles on the railway.
It's a lovely spot to enjoy the shade of the gums and soak up the serenity - unless there's a noisy train rattling over the bridge!
I've been volunteering on the tourist railway for over five years now and I've never seen Muckleford Creek with anything more than a trickle in it - but it does see some pretty big floods every now and then, on one such occassion in 2016 the water was less than a foot below the deck of the railway bridge!
Watch out for muggles here as they can sneak up on you, especially the cyclists!
Please remember that you are near an active railway. Trains can run on any day of the week and at any time. Please stay well clear of the railway tracks and don't climb on the bridge.
Have fun!
