After I noticed that the previous cache near the hut, Arthur Way Up - https://coord.info/GCNEF5 - had been archived, I decided that this place needed a replacement. This cache is placed a little way below the hut. A few metres off track. It is out of sight of the hut but within earshot.
DOC time from Flora Car Park to the hut is 1.5 hours - you may do it it less - definitely a bit less on the way down. It's a great day walk or staging point for longer treks.
Also as per DOC's information:
Mt Arthur Hut sits on the bushline at approx. 1,300 m. (About 400m above the car park) Enjoy views over Arthur Range and Tasman Bay a short distance from the hut. Watch out for curious weka around the hut.
In this terrain weather can be extreme and unpredictable so be well prepared and let people know where you are going. The road up to the car park is prone to slips so if uncertain check council web sites. Signs on the road now recommend 4WD so your call on whether you want to bring yoour shiny town car up here.
Cache is a 400ml Sistema container with log, pencil, eraser, sharpener and room for small swaps. Please re-cover the cache well to prevent Weka damage.
