Geocache Description:

This series of caches will be best sought with a kayak or canoe, launch at the up-river PWA and land at the down-river carry-in, it's about 6 miles total. The landing on this island could be tricky, so wear your life jacket and be careful! BYOP.

The water moves pretty fast around the log jam to the north of this island. I landed to the West side by carefully navigating into the mud, in between the trees. You should plan to land as far down-river from any large obstacles as possible, because when you go to leave, the water could push you into them.

When I did maintenance here on 7/14/2018 I took a video of me landing the island. If you want to see what you're getting yourself into, click here. Notice how the water was too fast for me to make the initial landing. I was especially nervous about getting pinned up against the tree downriver of me. So I aborted, turned around, paddled (very hard) upstream and re-landed. This island always has a lot of fast water around it because of the log jam upriver. This one takes some skill and strength to land.

Please note - this cache is in a potentially dangerous location and seeking it is done at your own risk! I strongly recommend against doing this in the winter, as ice on rivers is always unpredictable. Legal entry points (PWAs) are provided, other entry points may be considered trespassing on private property. The terrain rating reflects the need to travel a significant distance on water.
