A new sign welcoming folks coming from the north to the town of Crossfield.
Crossfield was established as a siding and station on the Calgary & Edmonton Railway in 1892. It was the third stop going north from Calgary. Sidings and stations were placed about every ten miles (16 Km) apart so that farmers always had less than a days ride to get to one of them. Crossfield was named for one of the railway engineers working on the building of the line. At one time Crossfield was actually larger than Airdrie. Crossfield became a village in 1907 and a town in 1980. Today it is home to approximately 3,000 residents and with current developments underway population is expected to double in the next five years.
There's lots of room to pull over and park while you look for the cache. It should be an easy find.
