Welcome to the Punch… I mean Hamptons - SCAR2017 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

onecrazycanadian: Hi SmokinDeni,

It's been almost 2 months since I last contacted you. Since that time there has been no activity or indication that anything is happening with it so I have no choice but to archive the cache. Caches that have been archived for maintenance issues will not be unarchived as per direction from HQ.

Thanks

Geocache Description:

This cache is intended for SCAR2017, and should not be sought out until after 5:30 pm on May 26th.

Container size has been updated as of Oct 21, I forgot to change it when I last replaced the container. Happy hunting!

Decided that one of my first caches should be in my home neighbourhood.  First time I was in the area was in 2009, I was attending a co-worker's baby shower on 37th Street, when there was nothing but cropland to the north.  When I was looking for my first home in 2013, I was shocked to see a whole new 'village concept' neighbourhood in Saskatoon.  I moved in as soon as my home was built.

According to Wikipedia, Hampton Village is the first suburb designed on Saskatoon's west side to be modelled after the village concept. The residential area is constructed around the village centre consisting of shops, services and amenities for residential living, with walking trails radiating outward from the central core.  This suburb has some detached homes and condominiums sold, and in 2008, there are still several areas still under construction.

The land on which Hampton Village sits was annexed over a period of many years. The western half (west of Junor Avenue) was annexed in July 1979, while the eastern half wasn't annexed until May 2000. Some remnant lots along the southern portion of the community rest on lands annexed by the city between 1911 and 1977.

The green space throughout the neighbourhood, the ball diamonds, bike paths, all designed around a Village Circle really make Hampton Village seem like a small town inside a city.  The new development to the north will likely change that, however it should bring amenities a little closer.

You are looking for a small, camoed L&L container.  Traffic (car, bike, pedestrian) pressure can be high, depending on the time of day.  Please use stealth while retrieving and replacing the cache.  Also, approach GZ from the intersection of McClocklin and East Hampton; it is not available from the southwest (which is private residence)!
