Geocache Description:

This cache takes you to the Woodenbridge World War I Memorial Park.

The Woodenbridge WWI Memorial Park is located on the southern bank of the Aughrim river. It was opened on 18 September 2014. It consists of 15 vertical granite slabs placed in three circles. There are 1,192 names of Wicklow natives and residents who died as a result of WWI. Woodenbridge was selected for the site of the memorial as it was the location of the famous speech made by John Redmond MP in 1914, who encouraged Irish volunteers to join the Great War.  The park is very well kept; it's a lovely tranquil spot to sit and reflect beside the river. Cache container is small and requires that you bring your own pen. Please replace exactly as found.
