Geocache Description:

The Bascombe Well conservation park is a true wilderness area on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. This cache is located somewhere out in the middle, but it's not a quick drive out to find!

This cache is only accessible via 4wd vehicle, motorbike or hiking, due to the extremely rough terrain of the tracks in and out.

If you've made it out here, well done!!

The journey to the old Bascombe Well homestead area is via one of two strictly 4 wheel drive tracks, and will either be a journey of 12 or 24km depending upon which entrance into to conservation park you have taken. The track is slow going, but once you've reached this clearing you will see the giant gum trees, evidence of close underground water. A walk around the old homestead, shearing shed ruins and the surrounding area is very rewarding, and will give you an appreciation of the hardships faced by the people who lived here up until the whole area was proclaimed a conservation park, early in the 1970's I think!
